In Shattered Norns, before Wakanda returned, there were seven princes of the plain.  They tended to call themselves kings, and the one everyone has heard of is Grhthswyndr "who fought against the five kings."  There was one other, now known as the One Eyed King (OEK).

OEK led his villagers, his scouts and his militia on a long migration to the mountains, seeking fire.  He came upon the ruins of the first sky gate and led his people through it, hoping to find the sun (which had not yet come to Shattered Norns).  As the people entered, OEK entered onto the star paths and his people waited for him on the plateau beyond the ruins of the first gate.

OEK found the trickster as a painter, who promised him the secrets of the fifth age if OEK would share his secrets.  So Testakleez (OEK's name) stripped bare and the trickster painted him.  OEK took the painting as a guide and the painter took the knowledge he had gained of OEK's true appearance.

The guide did lead OEK to fire, and it did lead him to a fire that the scorpion men had forsaken, but it was not to Wakanda, the sun spirit he was led but to Firering Starcalled.  He was able to find a star rune to take with him, as well as many strange followers (scorpiod mercenaries, all bound to Firering). OEK took the rune stone fragment that he found and then consulted the scrolled painting again and his followers, for he also needed knowledge.  His people were without homes or fortifications.

Between his followers and his painting he found a path to knowledge, Eyebright Starcalled who replaced one eye with knowledge (which is how Testakleez became the One Eyed King).  While it did not lead him to the promised fifth age, it did give him the knowledge of how to build castles quickly and strongly.

Eyebright

The shrine costs 2 points of POW, an eye, 1 point of CON, 1 point of STR, 2 points of DEX.  In return the person gains Civil Engineering at 95%, Castle Age technology.  In addition, if the true name of Eyebright is learned (instead of the hero name), by expending 1 point of fatigue, the initiate may see (POWx3 meters in range) into the structure of a building, seeing stress lines, beams -- and secret passages and other undisclosed features.  Base chance of this rune skill is (POW+INT)x2%, +INT% per additional point of POW expended on the skill.

OEK has a band of engineers who a fast castle builders and a bodyguard of Scorpiods all with the "firering" marking on their tails.  He was able to bring fire to his people, who passed through the gate again, but found themselves on Starstrands and not on Shattered Norns.  There on Starstrands, they made their own lands and fires.
