The Skilled Facilitator
by Roger M. Schwarz (Jossey-Bass Publishers, 1994).  This textbook is a classic and the leading text of its kind.

Forgiveness -- Breaking the Chain of Hate, Michael Henderson (endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu). Published by Bookpartners at $14.95 for 187 pages, it teaches how peace is made between individuals and groups after unspeakable wrongs have been committed.  Useful, but not required.

How to Turn the Other Cheek and Still Survive in Today's World, Dr. Suzette Haden Elgin. Published by Thomas Nelson Publishers at $12.99 for 223 pages, it discusses how to reduce and defuse verbal violence.  It also explains how to work with sensory modes in communication. This teaches the nuts and bolts of the techniques that will become a part of the training of the next generation of dispute resolution professionals.

Replaced by The Gentle Art of Verbal Self Defense at Work, Second Edition.

You Can't Say That To Me. This is Elgin's approach broken down into an eight step program, with worksheets and review guides.  The book is designed to be accessible and is the core of strong personal peacemaking techniques. Useful, but not required.
