September 2. Back on the trail just after noon.

Today on the trail

Bought a couple burgers at the lodge so we could have them for dinner. Are the fries for lunch.

Ran into Five Fingers in the lobby. She and her partner (free at last) got delayed by Norovirus. We left Stevens Pass before she did.

Camped ay the same site as Special Ed. He Thru-Hiked the AT in 2019. 2473.3. Did 11.13 miles today. Taking it easy and warming my leg up.

So far, so good. First 3-4 miles of the trail was flat and smooth—park type of trail with junction boxes. We crossed the bridge, went the wrong way then course corrected and found the trail head behind the large A frame.

Today my goal was ten miles. Tomorrow it is 19 miles. Did over eleven today. Probably will get to a full day tomorrow.

Weather was nice, though a little warm. Tomorrow the forecast is for perfect hiking weather.

My five days of food seems heavy. About two or three times heavier than Win’s food.

Gear changes

Base layer and t-shirt are both home. I live in my sun hoodie. Also have my convertible pants and hiking shorts. Pants have changed from 34-30 to 30-30 pants.

Compression socks added. Wool beanie home.

Sawyer filters home. Katahdin filters carried. CNOCs both kind of died. Use the one and three liter Katahdin bags. The new filters don’t last forever but they will last a Thru-Hike and they are lightning fast.

No longer need gravity feed. Can filter three liters in the time it would take to set that up. Worth the shorter lifespan.

Only one buff. Liner socks are home (though compression socks take that place). On my back-up reading glasses. The others broke. Using the sunglasses I found under the branches. New nighttime bottle. My back-up from home. Replaced the lost bottle.

New stuff sack for tent to replace the one that wore out. Replaced my smellyproof bags with new ones (from the Stevens Pass resupply box).

Not a lot of changes.
