Amtrak is surprisingly nice. Power outlets, seat belts. Wood floors. Lots of room.
We drove up to Seattle from Stansbury Park in a rental car that got over 40 mpg. Almost a thousand dollars cheaper than flying.
Dropped the rental Mitsubishi Mirage off at the airport and took the light rail from the airport to our hostel.
The hostel was the American Hotel Hostel. Breakfast was instant oatmeal without milk.
Then a two minute walk to Amtrak which has rail and busses here. They have a bus to Spokane that stops at Stevens Pass.
We should be on the trail by noon.
I’ve taken my ibuprofen, calcium and magnesium. Have my shin taped and compression socks on. New shoes.
Ready for warm weather today and cooler weather tomorrow (looking forward to the cooler weather actually).
I will take today easy and ease into hiking.
But I’m so looking forward to more and better hiking again.
