Flying Solo, A Survival Guide for the Solo Lawyer, Joel P. Bennett,
Editor. Lots of perspectives and comments from successful solos.

Managing Partner 101. Robert Michael Greene. Well written book
on firm leadership. If you make partner in a firm of fifteen or more attorneys
(the target audience is firms of 75 to 200 partners), this book is worth
taking the time to read and understand. Greene writes in a clear, literate
style and the book is only 69 pages long.

Marketing Without Advertising by Michael Phillips & Salli
Rasberry. This book actually appreciates that advertising is necessary and
appropriate in some cases, but explains the underlying concepts that create
and nourish a marketing plan. It is especially useful for
professionals.

but if you go to work for a large firm, read this book for survival.
It is short, honest and provides detailed advice.
