1994
Dear Friends and Family,
August 14, 1994 seems a good time to begin reporting on our year. That was when we heard that Steve's parents' first assignment on their church mission to the Kenya area mission was to be in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
The year has been busy. Win was made a novice in Senior-Junior Forum, agreed to be co-volunteer co-ordinator for the PTA, was made President of the Wichita County Legal Auxiliary (without serving as president-elect first) and served as a counselor in Relief Society. She also was placed on the Board of Directors for the Maternity Cottage and took on some small projects as well. Last, but not least, Win began work on her second Bachelor's degree and is doing very well.
Steve went from co-chair/secretary of the Red River Mediation Council to co-chair/ judicial liaison for the Council. He continued on the supervisory board of directors for the Wichita Falls Parents Anonymous. He wrote and co-wrote a number of published articles and taught some mediation seminars for other professionals. He also was a founding member of the Red River Center for Dispute Resolution.
Heather tested out well and was one of two kids from the 120 in her kindergarten to be placed in the gifted and talented program. She had the usual swimming and other classes and has been happy and healthy. Both her cat and rabbit are doing well.
We had a wonderful road trip this summer, including several days at Yellowstone (we drove the Amarillo to Yellowstone leg in one day -- including some delays for world cup soccer crowds and a washed out stretch of US287). The best part was visiting friends and relatives and the long hours where we could just talk and be together without any interruptions.
In October we celebrated the tenth anniversary of when Steve and Win first met and fell in love. While we seem to have had a lot of effort for what we have (e.g. six pregnancies and only one living child), what we have seems to us to be the very best (e.g. Heather) and worth the cost.
May God grant to each of you that your lives are worthwhile and worth the cost. May He keep you and bless you, in this season and always, holding you in His hands and keeping your name safe in the book of life.
Sincerely and with love,
The Marsh Family
